Conductor Michael Sheetz is a versatile and active performer based in New York City. He currently teaches on the music faculty in Choral and Voice Studies at Hunter College of the City University of New York, and is also the Music Associate at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola Park Avenue, Music Director of The Greenwich Village Chamber Singers, and Assistant Music Director of Musica Sacra, New York’s longest continuously performing professional chorus. He has performed live radio broadcasts on WQXR, in concerts at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, and on recordings via the AMR and MSR Classics labels. In 2021 Michael served as cover conductor for New York Philharmonic performances of Handel’s Messiah. During the summer Michael serves on the faculty of Classic Lyric Arts, a summer training program for opera singers in Novafeltria, Italy. He has previously held faculty positions at The Juilliard School, Vassar College, and the United Nations International School. He is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and Vassar College.
